As a lot of you know, I follow MCU news very closely which is one of the ways I am able to piece my theories together. I know everyone doesn’t have the same time or resources to stay on top of all the current news, so these articles will be a weekly collection of the things that I learned the last week regarding the MCU. So here’s what I learned this week.

Disney+ Marvel Cinematic Universe Shows

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier cutting a plot point – Leaks (and the shows production company is Pandemic Productions LLC) suggested one of the main plot points during the first two episodes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was a global pandemic instigated by a terrorist group. Over the past couple of weeks there have been relatively major reshoots for this show and it seems to be due to the fact Marvel Studios and Disney decided to drop this plot line from the show due to the current corona virus outbreak. Battlestar believed to be appearing in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier – first reported by Charles Murphy back in November, new set phots seem to confirm that Battlestar will debut in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. In the comics, when the government replaced Steve Rogers as Captain America with John Walker, they introduced Lemar Hoskins as the new Bucky (eventually he would change his name to Battlestar). While we are not like to get a one to one adaptation of the comics, it does appear that Walker and Hoskins’ will have had a previous relationship (likely during their time in the military) and Walker has asked Hoskins to become his sidekick in the show. “Cap is Back” propaganda poster from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier – A new leak from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier gives us a glimpse at the propaganda the US government will us for John Walker as Captain America. Check out the image below.

Hawkeye is back on schedule (?) – whew, nailing Hawkeye and when it is going to go into production (therefore when it is going to air) has been tumultuous. When it was first announced, it was to be meant to be released in Fall of 2021 and while this date may or may not have changed (last week Hasbro’s release schedule appeared to confirm Ms. Marvel will air prior to Hawkeye), the show was originally eyeing to begin production in July of this year. Then a few months ago, production on Hawkeye was suspended indefinitely, only then to be announced, a matter of weeks later, that the show would be eyeing a September start date for production. Now it appears things are back on schedule for Hawkeye and the show will actually be filming in July (this is when Ms. Marvel is schedule to film, so we may have a similar situation to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision’s production schedules). New Loki character descriptions have surfaced – check out the list of supporting character descriptions below. It is believed the “Male Lead” has been cast as Owen Wilson although his role is still unknown. There is not confirmation if the other roles have been cast as of yet. Squadron Supreme rumored to be appearing in Loki – With he Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision both wrapping production soon, the next big show up os Loki. Earlier this week, one of the producers on the show was seen in a large comic book store, buying Squadron Supreme trade paperback. While this clearly is not confirmation, people involved in these projects can be good indicators of what to expect. The Squadron Supreme is generally described as Marvel’s version of the Justice League, so if Loki is going to show alternate Earths, it makes sense that the Squadron Supreme would be an alternate Earth’s equivalent to the Avengers. Moon Knight aiming to begin production in November – it was previously rumored that Moon Knight would be aiming for an August start date and would be shooting at the Pinewood Studios in the UK. New information now suggests that Moon Knight has been pushed to a November start date and will be filming in Pinewood Studios in Atlanta. A November start date fo0r production likely means the show will release December of 2021 or early 2022. (Source – http://bit.ly/2VBKhvG)

Marvel Studios looking for an “Alison Brie-type” for She-Hulk – earlier this week it was reported thatn Marvel Studios was looking for an “Alison Brie-type” actress for the titular role in She-Hulk. After the rumors, Brie was asked about the situation by James Corden and while she said she has spoken to anyone about the role, she does find the prospect of playing Jennifer Walters “interesting”. Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies

Tom Holland knows “everything” about Spider-Man 3 – In an interview with Hey U Guys on the red carpet of Onward, Tom Holland revealed that “he knows everything now” after having his pitch meeting with Marvel Studios and Sony about two weeks ago. Check out his comments below.

Wiz Kid set to appear in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – Daniel Ritchman is reporting that Wiz Kid, a wheelchair bound mutant in the comics, is set to appear in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. While he says he does not know if Wiz Kid will be a mutant in the movie, Kevin Feige is taking clear steps towards introducing the mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Final Black Widow trailer – Since the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron, every Marvel Cinematic Universe released in May has had a final trailer released in March; Avengers: Age of Ultron – March 4, 2015, Captain America: Civil War – March 10, 2016, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 – March 1, 2017, Avengers: Infinity War – March 16, 2018, Avengers: Endgame – March 14, 2019. So while there is no confirmed date, it is reasonable to expect the final Black Widow trailer to drop this month.

Sony Universe of Marvel Characters

Sony “had a really, really wonderful idea” to transition Spider-Man out of the MCU – in an promotional interview for Onward, Tom Holland was quoted “…future for Spider-Man was still very bright with Sony and we had a really, really wonderful idea how we could sort of transition into a Spider-Man without the MCU and Tom Rothman and Amy Pascal were really confidant that they were gonna do justice and make a film of the calibre that Spider-Man requires.” While he doesn’t get into specifics, it is nice to know he felt the transition out of the MCU would have been handled gracefully. Check out the interview below.
